Our two congregation's buildings

These are the buildings where our two congregations worship.

St. Olaf Lutheran in Grenora

What would eventually become the St. Olaf Lutheran congregation in Grenora began as three congregations working together. Two of the congregations were in Montana and one was in Grenora. This arrangement lasted from 1908-1918 when the three congregations merged, Enbar Butte; St. Olaf, Montana, and Grenora. The first constitution was drawn up and adopted by the Grenora congregation. In 1919 church services began being held in a church basement in Grenora. In 1940 the congregation voted to build a church on the basement where the worship services were held. Over the years, St. Olaf has had several different cooperative agreements with congregations throughout the area.

United Lutheran in Zahl

United Lutheran was organized in 1915 when it was named Bethel Lutheran. Services were held in various homes and schools until 1916 when the town site of Zahl was established and services were held in a school house there. In 1928 the church building was erected. In 1964 they merged with Our Savior’s Lutheran and was then known as Bethel-Our Savior’s Lutheran church. Over the years they would also have several different cooperative agreements with congregations throughout the area. This would eventually lead to the name being changed to United Lutheran church
